From Sidewalks to Storm Sewers, We've Got a Guy for That

When you think about construction projects, you probably picture the big stuff: cranes with steel beams going up and heavy machinery moving dirt.

But before any of that happens, there’s a whole lot of groundwork (literally) that needs to be done.

At O’Shea Builders’ Civil division, we’ve got a guy for that!

And here’s the best part: O’Shea offers a la carte services.

What does that mean for you? Flexibility, efficiency and cost savings.

Only What You Need—When You Need It

Not every project requires a full-service approach. Maybe you just need grading and excavation. Or underground utility installation.

With our a la carte options, you choose the services that fit your needs.

“A lot of people don’t know that you don’t have to hire O’Shea as your general contractor in order to take advantage of our Civil offerings,” says Matt Allen. “We’re a self-performing unit within O’Shea.”

Whether you’re working with O’Shea on a larger build or bringing us in for just one aspect of your site work, our Civil team integrates smoothly into any project. We collaborate with general contractors, municipalities and private developers to keep your project moving forward without unnecessary delays.

“Direct contact doesn’t mean sole contact; we can get answers to your challenges,” Matt shares. “We’ll take care of city permits or EPA requirements. If you need to renovate but stay compliant with a new ADA requirement, we’ll secure the engineer needed for that.”

Built to Serve Your Project

Our a la carte approach puts you in control.

“You may need one little thing at first, but if you end up needing the additional services of O’Shea, we can provide that. We bring in our Building Services division all the time,” Matt says.

For example, a recent client needed a parking lot done, but there was an old oil tank buried underneath. Because we’re full service, we were able to take care of that without any delays.

So, what work does O’Shea Civil perform?

Excavation

  • Earthwork
  • Site cuts and fills
  • GPS-assisted site calculated files

Underground site utilities

  • Storm and sanitation sewers
  • Storm water detention systems

Demolition

  • Site clearing
  • Structural building demo
  • Site utility removal

And don’t forget the popular service of concrete!

When it comes to concrete, O’Shea handles the pumping and material conveying for both residential and commercial projects.

  • Site paving
  • Sidewalks
  • Handicap ramps
  • Curbs and gutters
  • Site furnishings
  • Interior slabs

“Removing and replacing sidewalks, driveways and parking lots keeps us busy,” Matt says. “Site paving and improvement are also growing in demand.”

Whether it’s pumping concrete to the top of a building, below grade for foundations, or even transporting a lot of earth or concrete to areas not easily accessible, we have the right equipment for each of those jobs:

  • For concrete pumping and placement, we utilize a 40-meter concrete pump for precise placement.
  • For material conveying, we have a 110-foot Loop Belt Truck to move aggregates and concrete quickly and accurately.

“And if you’re pouring concrete yourself and your pump goes out, you can even call us and rent our pump,” says Matt.

At O’Shea, we know that giving choices leads to better projects with customized services. Got an earthwork, concrete or demo project on the docket this year? Give our Civil division a call at 217-522-2826 to pick and choose what you need from O’Shea.
