Memorial Health and Illinois State University’s (ISU) Mennonite College of Nursing (MCN) partnered together to open a nursing school in Springfield. By opening the Springfield site for ISU, Memorial hopes to increase the supply of registered nurses due to the ongoing statewide and nationwide nursing shortage.
For their part, O’Shea Builders renovated a section of the former Shop ‘n Save grocery store on North Grand Avenue. The almost 10,000-square-foot renovation included classrooms, lounge/kitchen areas, offices, and conference rooms.
The new MCN location enrolled its first class in fall 2023.
