O’Shea Builders hosted a two-day American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) Healthcare Workshop in collaboration with the Central Illinois Chapter of Healthcare Engineers (CICHE). Local trade partners, healthcare professionals and the O’Shea team were all in attendance for a refresh in healthcare construction.

“VDC has been one of the main factors that has driven our success at Lanphier,” Adam says. “For this project, that has taken shape in the form of BIM coordination, which has been no small undertaking.”

Adopting new technology can be a difficult process, especially in the construction industry. But the benefits are already proving to be worth the effort. “VDC allows for architectural elements, structure, and MEPs to be designed side-by-side in 3D and any problems that arise to be fixed before construction,” Evan shares.

As the number of COVID-19 cases continued to climb in Sangamon County and a vaccine was about to be released, Memorial Health System needed to quickly develop laboratory testing and mass vaccination locations in the Springfield area.

The timeline wasn’t in our favor: O’Shea’s work on the new downtown Springfield YMCA started eight weeks behind, due to a delay in regulatory approvals.
